Provincial Administrator Atty. Katherine Pioquinto and Provincial Veterinarian, Dr. Stella Marie Lapiz, convened the representatives of shipping and air lines to discuss on measures to prevent the African Swine Fever (ASF) from entering Bohol.
This is compliance to an earlier Press Statement of Gov. Arthur Yap for a strict quarantine measures on live pork, pork, and pork-related products to prevent the risk of African Swine Fever (ASF) from entering the province.
The Governor takes a proactive stand on the issue following an advisory by DA Sec. William Dar and the governor himself being the former Secretary of Agriculture. He also took into consideration the effect to the hog industry would cause to more than 30,000 households in 21 municipalities valued at more than 6 billion pesos.
Yap also communicated with the government of Cebu for the synchronization in regulating the concern at hand.
Present during the meeting are representatives from AirAsia, Cebu Pacific, Lite Shipping, Island Water, and Philippine Airlines. (Beyj Malicse)
