The reawakening of Boholano culture continues amid a pandemic led by the Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage (BACH) Council with the full support from the Provincial Government of Bohol through the Center for Culture and Arts Development (CCAD).
This was started with the preparations for Kasadya! Pasko sa Bohol celebration through the nativity scene, Belen Contest and caroling contest, Dayegon which is participated by municipalities in the province.
The announcement and awarding of winners of the said contests will be done through the virtual conference of Gov. Arthur Yap.
Engr. Jerrey Aguilar from Kasing Sining and the Head of Theater Committee of BACH headed the webinar, “Mugna Dula” which tackles theater productionlast December 4-6 and was attended by 80 participants.
BACH also conducted a free, online Dance and Choreography Workshop last November 29 and December 5.
With the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and support from the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Loboc Children’s Choir presented an online concert series entitled “Padayon: Pag-asa sa Panahon ng Pandemya” which started from December 2 to 4.
The 3-day concert series can be viewed on the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia Facebook page.
From hundreds of submitted entries, Kaliwat Ni Karyapa, an active sector that promotes preserving Boholano literature since 1997, declared John Harvey Reforial’s piece entitled “Kabug ug Ibos” won in “Tagik: Tigi sa Pagtagik ug Balak” while the entries,“Try-ophobia” by Ammiel Balagot Maestrado and “Buwang” by Gio R. Bernaldez won in “Kinalit kalit Flash Fiction Writing Competition” in the English and Bisaya categories respectively.
With a theme “Pamilyang Bol-anon”, the Christmas Art Exhibit which showcases Boholano masterpieces can be viewed in the Main Lobby ofthe New Provincial Capitolwhich started on December 7 until January 7, 2021.
Moreover, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Loon released a Christmas music video entitled, “Paskong Nagkahiusa” last December 2 featuring Loonanon artists while LGU-Catigbian through Facebook, premiered the film, “Ang Estorya ni Lola Remedias” on December 3.
The film was written by Jenz Carl Napiñas and was directed by Carl Jones Hinlo starring actors from Bol-anong Kabilin Atong Gibahandi – Catigbian Cultural Collectives (BOKAG-CCC). (Jigs Señagan, PrIMeR)
